CREMS Paetzold Bass Recorders

Over several years CREMS members raised the funds to buy three of these fascinating instruments - a great bass in C and 2 contrabasses in F.  Paetzold by Kunath ™ unique instruments are based on the principle of a cranked wooden organ pipe. The design makes use of a doubled over bore so that the overall size is reduced without any reduction in sound which  is very powerful throughout their two octave range. The large key pads allow for them to be played by people with even the smallest of hands. These wonderful instruments attract attention wherever they are played and are the source of many questions after our concerts! Members of CREMS are able to play them at our regular orchestra sessions and at official CREMS workshops and functions They are also available for members to borrow under certain conditions.
