What is Relaxed Playing?
Just as the name says - it's relaxed! The aim of the sessions is to play lots of ensemble music together and have fun.
One of our CREMS members will lead the session.
PDF music is emailed in advance for players to BYO printed copies. Practise in advance or sight read on the day - it's up to you.
We don't allocate parts in advance. While players are free to choose which parts they want to play, we will need a balance on the day - so we don't have 16 descants! If you play more than one instrument, we encourage you to bring them all and be flexible. If you only play one instrument, that's okay too.
When/Cost?
Relaxed playing sessions are offered twice per year. See the 2025 Calendar for dates and times.
The current fee for a session is $8 per person which covers room hire costs. Afternoon tea is also provided.
Playing level?
All levels are welcome. We provide music that covers a wide variety of playing levels. Less experienced players can be joined up with one of our more experienced players on the day, and will have the music to practise in advance.
Do I need to be a member?
No. At the current time, Relaxed playing sessions are open to both CREMS members and non-members. But non-members .. be ready for us to gently encourage you to join CREMS!
If you are interested in joining a Relaxed playing session, or to find out more information, please contact our Vice-President on email: kakles1@hotmail.com
What is a Blackboard Social?
The Blackboard Social is a lovely relaxed afternoon where members are invited to present music that they have been working on. Solos, duets, trios, quartets and more are most welcome. Or come along and be part of our supportive and appreciative audience. A CREMS member will also lead some relaxed playing, so do bring your instruments even if you are not presenting a blackboard item. It's a wonderful opportunity to socialise!
